For non-specified, general rants about what a complete and utter tool your colleague is, please post here. As much as we would like to see true justice done, we have to remind you not to use real names of the people you're venting about ... for legal reasons!

so i don't know for sure but i swear to god one of my wo-workers is trying to edge me out of my job so she gets better work. it is so damn weird. she keeps cc-ing the boss on emails asking me to do things when she has no right to ask me to do things for her. She also keeps having closed door meetings with the boss and there is just that general vibe in the office that i'm about to be asked to leave...the worst bit is, I am a casual so they don't even have to give me any notice! anybody else had that weird office vibe before? like the calm before the storm?

Urgh! Those people are the worst! You should say something to your boss - are you in the same sort of position?? Does she have any right to be delegating you work? You should cc boss emails telling HER to do stuff ... that'd teach her, hehe

I work for a local government agency. I had filed a complaint against a co-worker and by supervisor transfered me out of the department and back to the local office. I asked him if it was because of the e-mail I sent and he (lied) said 'no.' Funny how within two hours of the e-mail I was to return ASAP!! He made the excuse that I should be rotated as a normal part of the job (funny how it wasn't for five years!!!!).
My waste-of-space boss lets out dispatcher make decisions instead of the boss! Well the dispatcher is good friends with the person I complained about and now get the shit calls and work. For over 6 weeks I have been a 'delivery-boy' and 'errand-boy' ... funny considering I have an MBA and he has a high school education!!!
Basicly there are two lists ... one is 24lb bond paper and the other is two-ply paper. My name heads the two-ply paper.
And needless to say that I have also been black-listed but it's hard to prove - legally. But it seems like I can't get into any other department regardless of my qualifications, certifications, education or experience. The only thing I am not qualified to do is brown-nose and that is because I have too much self respect!
But as much as they piss me off - they forget that I know where the 'bodies' are! Considering that this is a government agency they sure do break the laws!!! I am talking about discimination, black-listing, and even the use of pirated software!!!

that absolutely sucks man. I think you should quit your job- it sounds like you have wonderful qualifications and are generally a good guy you shouldn't take their shit. I hate that whole office politics thing- it is so wrong how people who are friends with people get privileges and how you've suffered because of it. I think you could easily find a better job, and probably better paid than gov agency too...

I agree with what you are saying. It's a matter of gettig the other job first! But I am looking - paper, internet, etc. Even created my own web-site in flash! I have had a few interviews but nothing yet. I even have my resignation letter readied .
I know of at least two contractors wanting to leave. One contractor had just started (a few months ago) and already wants to leave. Some have approched me, knowing I have an MBA (I make no secret of it) and could get a management job. They have asked me that if I get into a position where I can hire to hire them because they want out!

Yeah its all about a new job first. Rent ain't gonna pay itself. Its a shame ihatemyboss.com.au only does part-time jobs because you guys have got a damn good range! If i was still young enough to want a casual job I'd be cheering for u all the way! you guys should do fulltime jobs as well. we need u too!
dude- you should apply to big companies even if you don't see a position available..one may come up and they'll be like oh that CK person showed the initiative to put in their resume early- we'll interview them first! Alternatively sign up with recruitment agencies...Its free and they find you soooo many interviews.
ihatemyboss has really good interview tips dude. I looked at them before and laughed at first but they are so honest and true. If you're not good at interviews, you should check em out. You sound like a person who has had a tough run- you deserve a break CK, I hope things get better soon!

My interviewing skills are OK. I had an interview a couple of weeks ago with another government agency but just a few days ago all are under a hiring freeze.
But I still enjoyed the experience! I tried an experiment during the interview though. I read from another website about bringing in a 100-day agenda and handing it out towards the end of the interview. I knew one of the people on the interview board and she said in all her years she has NEVER had anyone do this! She said it was a VERY assertive stance in wanting the job. Overall, she said it was a very positive move on my part.
There is a job-fair this Monday and I intend to sneek out of work for a while and go to it. I have my business cards ready and just need to print out some more resumes.
I also downloaded and installed "Web CEO" which promotes your website. I I feel that I am doing everything right thus far. But one of my problems is the lack of experience. The reason is the my employer has suppressed me for so long that I almost feel trapped. But I am trying to remedy that as well.
Sorry if I am long winded but after writing term papers for two and a half years with the longest being 90 pages ... (including charts, graphs, etc.)

Seven Signs of Ethical Collapse
1) Pressure to maintain those numbers 2) Fear and Silence 3) Young'uns and a Bigger-Than-Life CEO 4) Weak Board 5) Conflicts 6) Innovation like no other 7) Goodness in some areas atone for evils in others
It is unfortune that my orginization meets and sometimes exceeds all seven catagories!

I had left work early this last Thursday sick - took all of Friday off being sick as a dog! I left my cell phone on in case they (fellow employees) had any questions on some projects I left hanging. Instead I kept getting paged with new service calls ... I was out sick and they kept assigning me work! WTF?!? You mean they can't get off their fat asses and do some work???
I know, I know ... it is far more easier to assign ME the work than it is for them to actually DO some work! After all ... they have to work on that butt-groove on their chair - and that's a lot of butt!!!
One to positive side ... I had finished my work on a user (considering I was out sick that it took me longer to complete - and I told the user this). The user was so impressed (I guess it doesn't take much) because they are use to a two week response for anyone to resolve her issues. WTF??? And I thought two days was bad - being sick and all!
She had multiple issues and I resolved them all within a couple of hours. She was so supprised and please that she asked for my business card so that she could e-mail my manager. I gave her my manager's name instead of my supervisor's. that is because my supervisor is a total idiot and just deletes 'ata-boy' e-mails he recieves regarding staff members (like me) he dislikes and never tells them about the praise from the customer.

Sounds like a micro-manager! If that were to happen to me I would have someone else answer the phe once and explain to him/her that you were taken to the emergency room and is now in intensive care unit. (And they don't have phones in intensive care!) Then thank them for their concern and best wishes. Then tell them that the family is praying that you would just make it though the night.
